Why VILLAGERS DON’T REPRODUCE?

Hello!! Here you will find the answer to why my villagers DON’T reproduce? I know it’s a nuisance when in a Minecraft survival the villagers get angry and don’t reproduce, so let’s go with the solution.

I recommend looking at the entire post… you also know why a mob farm doesn’t work?

Why doesn’t my village farm work? Minecraft 1.19

In most cases, these are the reasons why a village farm doesn’t work and makes the villagers angry and stop making baby villagers.

Villagers and beds

First, it is important to know that villagers need enough beds or beds that are NOT linked to other villagers, this, to procreate new baby villagers. So if there are 10 beds, there will be space for 10 villagers (although there is a trick to having more than 100 villagers with 10 beds, I explain that later)

second, it is very important that villagers can touch and see the beds or they will stop reproducing. I discovered this from 1.17 and it is still in 1.20.

The villagers of the farm must be able to sleep. If they stop sleeping they will get angry and stop reproducing. village farm in Minecraft

How much food does a villager need to reproduce?

Two villagers must exchange around 22 food to generate a baby villager. So if you throw a stack of food (carrots, potatoes, or wheat) at them, the villagers will generate at least 3 babies.

If it happens that the villagers don’t collect the food, it is probably because their inventory is full. If a villager has a full inventory, they will stop collecting food and therefore will not be able to exchange it and, without being able to exchange, they will stop reproducing. Give them two or three stacks of food and you won’t have this problem.

It is important that the villager can see and collect the food. Sometimes, a villager may not pick up the food because if there is an obstacle or something, the villager will not be able to see it and/or reach it.

How to make villagers have children?

To make two villagers have children in Minecraft, it is essential to have the following things:

  1. Have at least two villagers or more, it doesn’t matter if they have a job or not (green villagers also serve to reproduce).
  2. Have beds that are not linked, in addition to being able to see them, use them, and touch them.
  3. Enough food.

How to make a villagers farm?

In the latest versions of Minecraft, I have discovered a very simple way to reproduce villagers and get many baby villagers with a very, very simple farm.

To make this farm, we must start by removing all the beds from the village and then placing them all somewhere else, wait until nightfall, and when the time comes all the villagers in the village will go to the beds to sleep (and thus save us the trouble of taking them by boat), that’s when we take the opportunity to enclose them and when they wake up they don’t escape. We can make a wall two high, or surround the beds with any type of fence. It should look something like this.

Once enclosed, we will make a cultivation area (since it is an automatic farm) and in the center of the crops we place one or two composters. Place crystal or a slab on the compost to keep the farmer villager from doing parkour and damaging the crops.

This way we will make a basic and automatic villagers farm with very few resources in no time. This farm may take a while to work while the crops grow, but before you know it you will have an overpopulation of villagers and you can already make a leisure area with them and assign them the profession you need with the appropriate table.

Conclusions about villagers reproduction

The most important conclusions are the following.

About 22 food is needed to generate a new villager.

Before generating a villager, villagers will drink and exchange food, they do this in the mornings after waking up (6 in the morning in the game or 00010 ticks) or in the afternoon after the work day (after 3 in the afternoon in the game or 09000 ticks)

They must have enough beds that they can use, see, and touch.

Villagers will not reproduce if:

Villagers will not reproduce if: there are not enough beds or the beds are «occupied». To solve this problem, simply remove the beds and place them again. By removing the beds, the villagers will be unlinked from the beds and therefore there will be «free» space to generate more villagers.

Villagers will not reproduce if: they cannot see or touch the beds. The best thing, according to my experience, is for villagers to be able to walk on the beds and use them to sleep (especially in the latest versions of Minecraft such as 1.17 / 1.18 / 1.19).

Villagers will not reproduce if: they have a full inventory. If you are one of those incredibly generous people and give them many stacks of food, they will be full and will not be able to trade with each other and therefore will not make love. I suggest you give them just a couple of stacks of food so that they don’t get full and can trade.

Villagers will not reproduce if: If the villagers are angry. The main reasons that villagers get angry are two. The first is due to some blow they receive, if the player hits them they will get angry. The second reason that villagers get angry, especially when they reproduce, is due to a lack of beds, so put enough beds for them to be happy.

Bells in the villages

In Minecraft, bells are like a gathering point for the villagers in the village, but they are not necessary for the villagers to reproduce. The only function is for the villagers to gather, which facilitates the exchange of food.
